One of the benefits of the Xbox Series X | S is the fact that not only is the software backwards compatible, but the hardware is too. If you’ve got a bunch of Xbox accessories lying around and you’re hoping to use them with the new console, the chances are likely that you can. But how do you get it to work? Let us teach you how.

How Do I Connect My Controllers?

In order to connect your Xbox One Wireless Controller, all you need to do is press the sync button at the top of your controller, and hit the sync button on your Xbox Series X. If you’ve got your console stood up, it’s in the bottom right hand corner at the front. If you have a wired controller, however, it should be as simple as plugging it in.

What About Other Accessories?

For hard drives and headsets, it should be as simple as plugging them in like you would normally. If you hard drive or headset needs to be plugged into the Xbox via USB, it should work as normal, and if the headset requires a controller link, that should work too. For reference, I have a 2TB Seagate External Hard Drive and a Turtle Beach Elite Atlas, and both have worked seamlessly.

Elsewhere in Xbox Series X | S land, be sure to fiddle with your controller buttons and also make the most of game sharing.
