It’s not just you: Xbox Live is currently having some pretty widespread issues with signing players in. Bit unfortunate this also happens to be on the launch day of Xbox Series X | S, though.
I first noticed the issues after sitting down to properly play a game for the first time since my Series S came in the mail and yep, couldn’t sign in. When I could sign in, I just got booted back out again.
Xbox Support acknowledged the issue in a tweet:
We're aware that users are currently unable to sign into Xbox Live on various platforms. The right teams are looking into the issue and working on a fix. We'll provide updates here on our Twitter, or on our status page at https://t.co/dG2dbISiH7

The issue was first detected at 6:01:29 PM GMT and is still having issues, though it shouldn’t be too much longer. Do you think it has something to do with people redownloading all their games at once onto their new consoles? I wouldn’t be surprised.
