With the announcement of WWE 2K19 (as if they were going to take a break and actually deliver a meaningful entry rather than a minor update) coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 9th for everyone after early access for other editions, the last-gen continues to not be supported. WWE 2K19 will not be coming to either the PS3 or the Xbox 360.
This should obviously come as no surprise with both consoles far past their best; FIFA is the only franchise that still bothers with the older consoles with the annual releases of the football monolith. Even then they are somewhat stripped back in comparison to their more modern peers.
This is obviously nothing new, of course: WWE 2K18 marked the first time when the franchise shirked the older generation. Concentrating on fewer platforms didn’t seem to do it many favours, however. 2K18 was still riddled with bugs and hiccups at launch, as well as not providing that many changes to the previous year to impress.
However, the most interesting news to come out of the 2K19 announcement is that no Switch version has been confirmed. 2K18 was announced as coming to the platform at a later date in a special video with Seth Rollins, though they me be best served not announcing it at all. WWE 2K18 has gone down in infamy as one of the worst games on the console.
Horribly optimised and generally laborious to play, WWE 2K18 on Switch was something of an embarrassment. Featuring framerate drops to the point where it was basically unplayable, 2K Games have made half-efforts to fix the mess but it’s still a largely poor version of the game. With the game’s lifecycle coming to its end, it’s unlikely that it will ever be sorted.

From our WWE 2K18 review:
“With a huge amount of grinding needed to really unlock anything of any value, WWE 2K18 is designed for the hardcore fans and not so much for the casual gamer.”
