Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the new shonen anime to step up to the plate. With such a competitive genre, a show would have to be fantastic to flourish, and Jujutsu Kaisen does just that. Even though it only started in late 2020, people are hailing it as one of the best shonen anime ever. For an anime about curses, they seem to have every blessing a show could want.

With the second season coming soon, there’s no better time to get into the show. Where can you watch Jujutsu Kaisen, and how much will it cost you? You’d be surprised to know that it’s actually available for free.

Crunchyroll offers both the sub and dub for Jujutsu Kaisen: Season 1 completely for free, and not just the English dub: they have dubs for Spanish, German, French, and a bunch of other languages too. The main issue would be the ads, though a simple ad blocker does the trick.

As for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, however, Crunchyroll only has it available on their premium subscriptions, which aren’t free. If you’re new to Crunchyroll, they offer a 14-day free trial for their premium service, so you can try that out.

If Crunchyroll isn’t available in your region, try using a VPN to switch regions. It’s really the best option since other streaming platforms only have parts of Jujutsu Kaisen and don’t even have it for free.

If you loved the show so much that you want to own a physical copy, you could always get it on Blu-ray from Amazon.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen About?

Jujutsu Kaisen is about the fight between unseen spirits and a group of special people. No, that wasn’t a Jojo reference, just a similar concept. These spirits, more commonly known as Curses, are formed from the negative energy in human emotions and wreak havoc on society. To combat them, a group called the Jujutsu Sorcerers is tasked to eradicate them.

The main character, Yuji Itadori, is an average high schooler in Japan who accidentally gets thrust into the conflict. He unknowingly consumes a finger belonging to the King of Curses, giving him cursed energy, which leads to him getting captured by Satoru Goro, a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Possessing such immense energy can make Yuji Itadori a danger if he doesn’t quickly learn to control it.

After Yuji learns about the Curses and Sorcerers, he gets sent to Tokyo Jujutsu High to train to control the cursed energy inside him and join the fight.

Should I Watch Jujutsu Kaisen?

If you’re a fan of shonen anime and action in general, absolutely. Jujutsu Kaisen has pretty much everything you could want: great animation, plot, character development, and of course, fight scenes.

It’s not that long either. With only 24 episodes and a movie, it’s not as daunting to watch as some other shonen anime. That length also ensures that the show won’t be saturated with filler and prolonged fight scenes.

Watching it now would be great too, since the second season is just around the corner. It’s also free, so what more can you ask from a mainstream shonen anime?
