Go Team!

King Of Fighters XV

The King Of Fighters series is different from other fighting games because of the fact that the game utilises a 3v3 team-based mechanic, meaning you need to make sure you’re up to speed with more than just one person on the roster if you wish to succeed. However, in order to actually play the game online, you’ll need to go through the process of registering a team, otherwise it’s the default Hero Team for you any time you start matchmaking. Here’s how you go through the process of registering a team in The King Of Fighters XV.

How Do I Register A Team in KOF XV?

In order to register a team, you need to go into your battle settings, which can be done by hitting the menu/start button on the main menu. From here, you can register the team you want to use when playing in online matchmaking, or the single character you’d like to use if you’re playing in 1v1 mode instead of 3v3.

Players are given 15 preset teams, which you can then go in and edit. From here, you select the three characters you want on your team, along with their costume colours and different outfits where relevant. When you’re finished, you can choose to make that team your preferred team, meaning that when playing matchmade online modes, you’ll use that team by default.

Why Do I Need To Register A Team?

Registering a team means that you won’t be saddled with an unfamiliar team when you play online, but the actual reason is so that King Of Fighters XV can get you into an online game quicker. Basically, instead of putting you into a game then making a choice on your characters, you choose your team before you start matchmaking, then pick the team’s order when you actually get into a game.

The King of Fighters XV is available on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X & S.
