MAPPA's busy schedule keeps the Monkey King's return on hold

Based on the shōnen manhwa created by Yongje Park, The God of High School has become one of the best action anime in recent times. While its plot didn’t stand out particularly and felt really cheesy at times, the action was riveting and kept you glued to your screen every second.

In spite of that, The God of High School: Season 2 hasn’t been renewed by Crunchyroll. It’s disappointing news to hear, and with the anime’s studio being booked for many months to come, the light at the end of the tunnel keeps on dimming.

When Is The God of High School: Season 2 Coming Out?

The God of High School: Season 2 does not have a release date because the anime isn’t officially in the works. Most of the franchise’s social media outlets have gone radio silent, and the production studio hasn’t name-dropped the series in a while as well, so it’s unlikely the anime will return in the near future.

Compared to other anime in the summer 2020 line-up like ReZero, The God of High School wasn’t considered that acclaimed, but it wasn’t on the unpopular side either due to its massive viewership. In a nutshell, the anime should get renewed but due to the plethora of amazing anime coming out soon, it might be shoved under the rug for a little bit.

What Is The God of High School: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

The God of High School: Season 2 will entail the events taking place in the “Jin Taejin Arc” that starts from chapter 113 of the webtoon. It’ll be a series of flashbacks about Jin Mori’s grandfather Jin Taejin as he ventures to North Korea to retrieve a rumored Nuclear weapon being kept there.

In the present day, after the events that took place during The God of High School Tournament, Park Mubong enters the spotlight of being an anti-hero of sorts. The gods also finally make their appearance and that’s where Jin Mori’s real battle for survival begins.

Which Studio Is Making The God of High School: Season 2?

Believe it or not, Studio MAPPA, yes the same studio that animated Jujutsu Kaisen, also produced our favorite Korean martial arts anime too. On that note, The God of High School: Season 2 should be made by Studio MAPPA as well.

Studio MAPPA has been receiving insane amounts of praise recently and well-deserved at that. No matter what manga they have to bring to life, they’re always able to design the perfect art style, so hopefully, they don’t plan on dropping The God of High School.

Where Will The God of High School: Season 2 Be Aired?

You’ll be able to catch The God of High School: Season 2 on Crunchyroll when the anime officially releases. The anime’s licensed by Crunchyroll so it’s pretty much a given, but it’s likely that the second season will air on Vudu as well because it has the series streaming right now too.

Every anime MAPPA has been releasing these past few years have been absolute bangers, and with the studio’s schedule booked with upcoming anime like Attack on Titan: Season 4 Part 3, and maybe even a potential Chainsaw Man: Season 2, it might be a very long time until we see The God of Highschool: Season 2 air. Still, the anime does have a huge fan following, so we can only pray that MAPPA takes notice soon.
