The Dragon Prince is a Netflix Original animation about the mythical world of Xadia. The first three seasons told the story of Callum, Rayla, and Ezran’s struggle to return Zym, the Dragon Prince, to his mother. But the story’s not over yet. Viren is still out there, plotting to free Aaravos, and the heroes haven’t stopped him yet in Season 4.

When Is The Dragon Prince: Season 5 Being Released?
The Dragon Prince: Season 5 will be arriving on Netflix in Summer 2023. You can see this on Netflix and Wonderstorm’s official poster for the season. Unfortunately, a trailer hasn’t popped up just yet. It is reported to have nine episodes.
Not only is Season 5 confirmed, but Netflix has also already renewed the series for three more seasons. That’s two more seasons after Season 5, both of which are now in production. The Dragon Prince fans are eating good for the next couple of years.
What Is The Dragon Prince: Season 5 About?
Similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender’s season naming system, each season of The Dragon Prince is called a “Book”. The Dragon Prince: Season 5 is officially called Book Five: Ocean. Based on the name and poster, it seems that the heroes will be heading out to sea. Perhaps the entire season will be a Jason and the Argonauts type of journey where they travel across the sea and fight sea monsters and encounter strange and dangerous islands. All while they try to stop Viren from freeing Aaravos.
You can also see Nyx in the image. The sly elf who was last seen in Season 3 will seemingly play a big role this season,
There’s also the romance aspect of the show and the ships fans have been following. Callum and Rayla’s relationship was in a rocky place in Season 4. Janai and Amaya’s relationship isn’t any better too, with an entire nation against their affair. You’ll just have to wait and see how they resolve.
The thing is, the animated show is the source material. The novels, graphic novels, and the tabletop game all came after the show. So, there’s nothing fans can really look at to get a 100% accurate prediction for The Dragon Prince: Season 5.
Who Is Making The Dragon Prince: Season 5?
Netflix, Wonderstorm, and MWM Studios have all been co-producing the series since Season 1 with the help of Bardel Entertainment’s animations.
You’re probably already familiar with the streaming giant Netflix. They’ve been making original animations since 2011, and some of the most notable ones are Love, Death & Robots and BoJack Horseman.
When it comes to animated shows, Wonderstorm’s only big project is The Dragon Prince. The only other animated show they’ve worked on is Baby Shark’s Big Show! from 2020.
MWM Studios is also exceptionally new to the animation scene. They usually do live-action films like Drive and Ender’s Game.
Bardel Entertainment has some of the most popular adult cartoons under their portfolio. The Simpsons, South Park, and Rick And Morty have all been animated by this company.
The series was also co-created by Aaron Ehasz, a writer and co-executive producer of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Giancarlo Volpe, a director of ATLA, is also an executive producer for The Dragon Prince.

The Dragon Prince is a Netflix Original series. As such, you can only watch it on Netflix. It’s been that way since the beginning, and The Dragon Prince: Season 5 won’t be changing that.
