The Callisto Protocol is a new science-fiction horror game that is prepared to make its players truly understand what fear is. It’s been dubbed a spiritual successor to the Dead Space series, which is already a terrifying franchise to begin with, so there are high hopes for the torturous terror the Callisto Protocol will contain. But will The Callisto Protocol also be coming to Xbox Game Pass?
If you’re ready to watch a person literally be grinded into mincemeat, you can check out the gruesome gameplay trailer. If you want to avoid the gore, you’ll have to find another game to play because even the extended trailer reveals the game is packed with horrendous carnage.
The Callisto Protocol will release on December 2nd, as confirmed alongside the new gameplay trailer shown during the State of Play Showcase this month. The cross-gen title will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S. The game is being developed by Striking Distance Studios, which is run by the creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield.
As with any game that’ll be released on Xbox consoles, fans are quick to wonder if The Callisto Protocol will be available on Game Pass. Sadly, it doesn’t seem as though it will be.
About The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol is a third-person survival horror game reminiscent of the Dead Space franchise but somehow even more horrific than the former series ever was, so be sure to have a change of pants with you while playing.
The game is set in the future in 2320 at the Black Iron Prison on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. The main character is Jacob Lee. The prison is in shambles, and something sinister has been stalking the prisoners, not that there seems to be anyone alive remaining.
The monsters, known as Biophages, take various forms. They are able to evolve throughout the game, including changing their attack style when dismembered.
Players can use weapons, like pistols and shotguns, but ammo and other resources will be scarce. Instead, gravity-based attacks called GRPs can be used to stay alive in the most grim situations. It can be seen in action during the gameplay trailer when Jacob Lee tosses a Biophage into a massive spinning fan.
The Callisto Protocol & Xbox Game Pass
Prepare your screaming voice because The Callisto Protocol releases later this year on December 2nd, 2022. It’ll launch on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
As for whether The Callisto Protocol will make it to Game Pass, there has been no official statement about it. The game isn’t a first-party Xbox game, so a day one release to Game Pass doesn’t seem likely.
Fans will have to wait and see if The Callisto Protocol will eventually make its way to Game Pass. We’ll be sure to update if there is any news about its Game Pass fate.
