Lockdown probably helped.

Steam just can’t stop breaking its own records, as it’s been revealed that over the past weekend, Valve’s PC gaming platform managed to best its own concurrent player peak again this year alone.

Around a month ago, Steam managed to break the 20 million concurrent user mark, as players were staying at home and observing social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Steam has been breaking its own records pretty consistently, with this weekend peaking at a ridiculous 24,535,923 players.

With the state of lockdowns and the evolving pandemic situation, it’s likely that this record is going to be broken by next weekend, so don’t be surprised to see concurrent players hit 25 million very soon. Steam have also taken measures to preserve bandwidth for all its players during this difficult time, including delaying updates to games you haven’t played for a long time.
