Resource management is one of Starfield’s most important mechanics, as you’ll need it to craft weapon attachments, spacesuit mods, ship upgrades, outposts, and more. Benzene (or C6Hn) is a particular resource that can be difficult to come by unless you know where to look. After all, there is a whole universe ripe for plunder, with each planet offering different resources.

Benzene is a type of gas resource that is found on a variety of planets. One such planet you can find early in your playthrough is Tau Ceti II, located in the Tau Ceti system. If you join up with the Vanguard, located in the Mast Headquarters not far from The Lodge, then your first assignment will take you here.
You’re looking for Benzene deposits, which can be easily spotted with your Hand Scanner, and the noticeable gas leaking out from the resource. Interacting with the deposit will put the resource into your inventory.

If scavenging for resources isn’t your thing and you want a quicker solution, then head to the UC Distribution Center in the Commercial District of New Atlantis. As you enter, speak with the merchant, Wen Tseng, and you can purchase Benzene from the resources tab.
Additionally, you can set up an outpost on any planet that houses Benzene to passively obtain this resource. However, this is only recommended if you need a considerable amount of this gas, as you’ll need to invest plenty of other resources to get the habitat up and running.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
