Oh, Shaquille, you crazy bastard you. He’s finally done it. Well, I say him, more like Saber Interactive did it whilst Shaq helped. Saber Interactive, along with Wired Productions as publishers, have announced that Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will finally be launching this Spring for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
The sequel to the 1994 fighting game Shaq Fu, which has earned a legendary status within the gaming industry as being fucking atrocious, A Legend Reborn swaps the 1v1 fighting game formula for a good old fashioned side scrolling beat ’em up. Check out the tweet from Wired Productions themselves below:
#Shaqfu is back! This Spring, take on the role of the unstoppable @SHAQ, a legend reborn, and fight your way through the hordes of Hell & Hollywood! We’ll be sharing a brand new trailer and the release date very soon! https://t.co/aBFbfkw2mO pic.twitter.com/x3WFqGaE6Q

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn appeared on Indiegogo way back in those halcyon days of 2014, reaching its goal of $450,000. It’s been a long time since then, with the game going through plenty of delays before getting to this point. To Saber and Wired’s credit, they’ve done a fantastic job of marketing the game based on the infamy of the original Shaq Fu, with the main tagline in the above trailer being “Better Than The Old One”. At least we won’t have to wait all that long to find out.
Personally, I’m hoping for a rival boss fight with Charles Barkley on the set of Inside The NBA, given how much those two enjoy trading barbs and pranks on the show. I’m not even a basketball fan, I’ve just watched the compilation videos on YouTube. Anyway, be sure to let us know what you’re hoping for with Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn in the comments.
If you don’t think Shaq Fu is a slam dunk, then you probably didn’t like that joke either. However, you might like our coverage of Rainbow Six: Siege being free to play this weekend.Â
