Developers Awe Interactive have announced that BPM: Bullets Per Minute, the rhythm FPS that caught everyone’s attention a few months back, will be launching on PC via Steam on September 15th, with a console release set for 2021. Check out the new trailer to get a sense of what BPM is all about.
In BPM: Bullets Per Minute, you’re slaying demons to the beat of the music, meaning that every shot, jump and dodge is performed in time with the music. Players will explore a variety of randomly generated dungeons in a rougelike adventure, earning new abilities and taking on bosses as they progress through their playthrough.
Awe Interactive founder David Jones said this about BPM in a press release: “There’s no doubt we were inspired by the retro shooters from when we were growing up when putting BPM: Bullets Per Minute together, but we think the game’s unashamed slave-to-the-rhythm ethic gives it a fresh feel and an added edge. It’s that sweet spot between giving gamers a taste of the supreme shooters they loved when they were young, but also offering them something that genuinely pushes the boundaries of the genres the game straddles.”
BPM: Bullets Per Minute looks like a cross between DOOM and Crypt of the NecroDancer, which isn’t necessarily a bad combo to aim for. We’ll see if this fusion holds up when it launches this September.
