Report: Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer Could Be Free-To-Play, Runs At 120fps

Big if true.

Halo Infinite

Plenty of news and discussion has been made regarding Halo Infinite’s visuals since the campaign reveal last week, but many have been left wondering what’s happening with the game’s multiplayer. According to some recent reports, the game’s multiplayer could be a free-to-play experience that runs at 120fps.

A curious detail emerged on the Xbox Series X listing for the retailer Smyth’s Toys, suggesting that the multiplayer would be free-to-play and run at 120fps. The detail has since been removed, but not before it was reported on by various outlets including Windows Central who’s sources confirmed that it was true. Noted Xbox insider Klobrille even confirmed the news on Twitter, revealing that the game will include a Battle Pass and customisation options that are brand new to the series. Personally, I’m hoping for Guy Fieri-esque flame decals for my Mjolnir armour.

Microsoft are pushing for 120fps from as many games as possible when played on the Xbox Series X, including Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Dirt 5, so it’s unsurprising they’d like to extend that same feature to one of their biggest titles. As for 343 themselves, they spoke about the multiplayer briefly in their recent blog post, stated that the multiplayer will not feature real-money loot boxes. At least that’s something, right?
