Red Dead Redemption 2’s Gigantic File Size Revealed

It has been revealed ahead of time that Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 will need an almighty 105 GB of space on PlayStation 4 with a similar amount presumably needed for Xbox One.

The guys at Rockstar Intel were the first to spot the information on a Target listing with the file size being in the small print just underneath the featured character. In addition, the back of the bundle, which seems to be the PS4 Pro 1TB bundle recently teased by Rockstar and Sony, reveals that the PS4 will have access to exclusive content for 30 days.

This huge number makes Red Dead Redemption 2 significantly larger than most AAA games in terms of file size, though based on what we’ve seen from the game so far in terms of ambition, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised. This is a good excuse to finally invest in a PS4 external hard drive, especially seeing as how the 105 GB of space is just the minimum — post-launch patches should be expected and it’s unclear whether this figure also includes Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch on October 26th for PS4 and Xbox One. Recently, we discovered that you will be able to play it entirely in first-person and that its online component will launch as a beta in the month after launch. In addition, Rockstar recently divulged some of the animals and towns we should expect to see in the game.
