What Is My Hero Academia About?

My Hero Academia follows the story of Izuku Midoriya, also known as Deku, who’s a quirkless student in a superhero-filled world. Without a quirk, Deku doesn’t have any powers to achieve his dream of becoming a hero, but all of this changes when he meets the #1 hero, All Might. It appears that All Might’s quirk, One-For-All, can transfer itself from generation to generation. After All Might witnesses Deku performing a heroic deed, he decides to pass on his quirk to him.

With his newly gained power, Deku passed his application at U.A. High School and was able to take the Hero course. Together with his classmates in Class 1-A, they develop their quirks throughout the series and learn what it takes to become a hero. They’ll also take on powerful enemies, primarily from the League of Villains.

Since the beginning, My Hero Academia emphasized that the series is a retelling from Deku’s perspective, so the story is all about Deku’s journey and how he became the #1 hero.
