MercurySteam’s Raiders of the Broken Planet has been out for around a month now, having been experienced by over half a million players across PS4, Xbox One and PC, but the developers aren’t resting on their laurels just yet.
In the latest patch, players who are only experiencing the free-to-play Prologue will now have access to the in-game economy like all other players, meaning they can unlock new characters and earn weapon blueprints to improve said characters. This means that players, so long as they grind enough gold, can unlock characters like Mikah, Dr. Kuzmann and Ginebra, who were previously exclusive to Founder’s Pack and Alien Myths Campaign DLC holders.
However, Prologue only players will still have to purchase the Alien Myths in order to unlock the character Shae, as the first mission of that campaign sees you rescuing her. MercurySteam have also promised more updates to come in the future, which will “ensure that Raiders of the Broken Planet players have more flexibility and options to enjoy the game’s content”.
We published our review of the game over a week ago. We gave it a 7/10, and stated that:
“Though Raiders of the Broken Planet brings some unique characters and ideas to the table, and can be a lot of fun either as an antagonist or with a full party, it’s simply too frustrating to enjoy for any long period of time.”
Despite the criticism, we’re glad to see that the developers are seeking new ways to improve the experience for their player base, allowing players who are trying the game out to experience more of what the game has to offer. We look forward to seeing how Raiders of the Broken Planet changes and evolves over the game’s first season. Have you had chance to experience Raiders of the Broken Planet yet?
