Rage 2’s Gameplay Trailer Delivers A Carnival of Carnage, 2019 Release Date

Rage 2 trailer

Following on from the incredibly shocking and unexpected unveiling of the sequel yesterday, Rage 2 has just had its first gameplay trailer released.

The follow-up to the polarising last-gen title already looks like building upon the foundations of the game before it, those foundations being total mayhem and open-world exploration. You can check out the new trailer below with Rage 2 being shown off more at E3 2018 before it’s released in 2019:

Here’s the synopsis:

“Introducing RAGE 2, a new first-person shooterverse! Get a first look of the upcoming game in our first official gameplay trailer.

In RAGE 2, you’ll dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. You can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything. The game brings together two studio powerhouses – Avalanche Studios, masters of open world mayhem and id Software, gods of the first-person shooter – to deliver a carnival of carnage.

In the year 2185, humanity’s numbers are dwindling. Ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority seek to rule who remains with an iron fist. You are Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland. Robbed of your home and left for dead, you’ll tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling bloodthirsty gangs to find the tools and tech needed to take the fight to The Authority and crush their oppressive rule once and for all!”

A bunch of screens were also released for Rage 2:

Published by Bethesda, Rage 2 is a collaboration between id Software and Avalanche Studios, which makes more sense the more you think about. id are coming off the back of the beloved DOOM reboot wiser than they were for the original Rage, and Avalanche have previous with their Mad Max adaptation.

Personally, Rage 2 looks good, but the gameplay trailer doesn’t really go into specifics all that much. I’m going to wait until E3 before I get excited for it. How about you?
