With the release of the PlayStation 5, we will have many news multiplayer games to play with friends to look forward to over the next generation, experiences that will likely have us hunched over with our DualSense in our hands for hours at a time. Will I Need PlayStation Plus For PS4 and PS5 Cross-Play?
It will depend on whether the game is free-to-play or not. Check the list above for all of those games.
All free-to-play games on PS4 and PS5 can be played online with others without subscribing to PlayStation Plus, though you do often get free cosmetics for doing so. This is something that Sony have kept consistent since the launch of the PlayStation 4.
However, if you have already bought a game, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, you will then have to also subscribe to PlayStation Plus to play online with others.
