Pokémon Sword and Shield: How To Evolve Milcery Into Alcremie

Game Freak got freaky with this one.

Milcery Alcreamie 2

Pokémon Sword and Shield offers a tonne of Pokémon for you to collect, whether they be from the classic regions or from brand new designs from the region of Galar. One of those new Pokémon, Milcery, shows just how weird Game Freak can be when it evolves into Alcremie.

A Fairy-type Pokémon, you will encounter Milcery very early on in Pokémon Sword and Shield along Route 4 shortly after you get out of the starter town.

Here’s Route 4 on the map. You can always fast travel back to this spot after you’ve unlocked Flying Taxis.

You can find Milcery in the fields. As a Fairy-type Pokémon without much in the way of attack or defense, you should be able to catch them pretty easily with a Great Ball or above without having to do much damage.

And here’s where things get weird if you want to evolve your Milcery into Alcremie in Sword and Shield.

You will need to go to a cafe in one of the game’s major towns. Motostoke, Hammerlocke, and Wyndon all have cafes, but the earliest opportunity you will get to evolve Milcery will come in Motostoke.

Enter the cafe and approach the Cafe Master behind the counter, who will ask you if you want to battle for a reward. Take him up on his offer, beat him, and then you will get a Sweet, which come in many varieties.

Once you have the Sweet, make sure that you give it to Milcery as a held item by going pressing X > Bag > Other Items > Sweet > give to a Pokemon > Milcery. Milcery is also needs to be in your party. The evolution won’t work otherwise.

The final step in evolving Milcery into Alcremie is to spin your left stick around until your Trainer strikes a Leon pose. Alcremie has 28 different forms, all depending on what direction and how much you spin the left stick around.

If everything’s in order, Alcremie will be yours.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are out now on Nintendo Switch.
