The recent Pokémon Go in-person events were hugely popular, meaning that Niantic’s in-game targets to hit for the Ultra Unlock were completed easily. The rewards for this come in the form of more Pokémon from the Hisuian region for the first time, the region that’s featured in the newest game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. As well as this, there’s a special Raid Day, featuring Hisuian Braviary, which can also be encountered in its shiny form, which is pretty special for a brand new release. Here’s everything you need to know about the Hisuian Discoveries event in Pokémon GO.
Hisuian Discoveries Time, Date and Bonuses
The Hisuian Discoveries event runs from July 27th, 2022 at 10am until August 2nd, 2022 at 8pm local time, and will feature the following new Pokémon:
- Hisuian Growlithe (Fire/Rock)
- Hisuian Qwilfish (Dark/Poison)
- Hisuian Sneasel (Fighting/Poison)
In addition to the release of these new Pokémon, the following bonuses will be live for the course of the event:
- Friendship levels will increase faster than normal with other players
- Trainers can open upto 45 gifts and send 150 gifts each day
- Trainers can store up to 30 gifts in their bag
There are also two special Ultra Unlock bonuses, and these are:
- Unown S will be appearing in one star raids, with the chance of being shiny
- Panpour will be appearing globally in raids and the wild, with the chance of being shiny
Hisuian Discoveries Encounterable Pokémon
During the Hisuian Discoveries event, you’ll be able to encounter different Pokémon than usual in the wild, raids and from research tasks. These are as follows:
In the Wild
- Zubat, Ponyta, Onix, Tangela, Eevee, Porygon, Aipom, Wurmple, Kricketot, Buizel, Driftlook, Bronzor, Croagunk, Electabuzz, Magmar and Gible, all of which can be shiny
- Hisuian Voltorb, Hisuian Qwilfish and Octillery
In Raids

- Three Star – Chansey and Togetic, which can be shiny, as well as Kirlia and Whiscash
In Eggs
- Hatching from 7k eggs will be Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Voltorb, Hisuian Qwilfish and Hisuian Sneasel
In Field Research
- Clefairy, Paras, Psyduck, Magnemite, Cyndaquill, Sneasel, Remoraid, Mantine, Shinx, all forms of Burmy (Plant, Sand and Trash) and Oshawott, all of which can be shiny, as well as Petilil and Rowlet
Hisuian Discoveries Raid Day
On July 31st, 2022, from 11am until 2pm local time, Hisuian Braviary will be appearing in raids across all Gyms for these three hours. It’s dual Psychic/Flying type, and has a chance of being shiny. During these hours, players will have the following bonuses:
- Increased chance of Rare Candy XL from in-person raids
- Get five free raid passes from spinning Gyms during the event, and up to two hours after
- 50% more XP from winning Raid battles
Being a Psychic/Flying type, Hisuian Braviary is weak against Rock, Ghost, Electric, Ice and Dark. You’ll be looking to bring some strong attackers with any of those types, so look for your Mega Evolvable Pokémon (Aerodactyl, Abomasnow, Houndoom, Ampharos, Gengar, Absol) or your hardest hitting Pokémon of those types (Zekrom, Mewtwo, Mamoswine, Tyranitar, Darkrai). You’ll want to bring a good team and a good group of fellow players to take on Hisuian Braviary, in the hope of catching that elusive shiny.
Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android.
