People Are Really Liking Call of Duty: WWII Already

What a difference a year makes. At this point in 2016, Infinite Warfare was revealed and became the most disliked game trailer ever on YouTube. Backlash revolved around the franchise further deviating from its roots, roots that fans had been crying out to return to for years.

They eventually got their wish with the reveal of Call of Duty: WWII, which is now the most liked trailer in Call of Duty history. Considering how polarising the series has become in recent years, that’s no simple feat – people would rather die than give Call of Duty its due sometimes.

The news was confirmed during an Activision Blizzard conference call, when CEO Robert Kotick confirmed that not only was the trailer a success, but its livestream also brought some fans back around:

“The reveal trailer has become the most liked video in Call of Duty history, and also now has the most organic views of any Call of Duty reveal trailer we’ve ever made. We also set a new high watermark with the views of the livestream.

“That’s both for Call of Duty and for Activision overall. And the livestream also was extremely positively received, with a 95% like to dislike ratio. And then probably equally important as the positive indicators is the – that the negative social media sentiment, which you know we – was an issue last year, has virtually evaporated at about 0.2% at reveal.”

And here’s Infinite Warfare for context:

So, to do a quick bit of maths (which is probably not right), WWII currently sits at roughly 60% the amount of views that Infinite Warfare has. Even with the same amount of views, it would have approximately 200,000 dislikes as opposed to IW’s 3,531,305. So yeah. People like it more.

And you can even look at Advanced Warfare, which has a similar amount of views to Infinite Warfare but a fraction of the likes of WWII:
