Outlast 2 Has One of the Goofiest Trophies For A Horror Game

Outlast 2

Outlast 2 is, without blanketing the truth, hideous. It’s macabre, full of dread, and likely to leave you with a sick feeling in your stomach. It’s also one of the best horror games I have ever played.

Just like the first game, Outlast 2 has a ton of replayability. The dreaded Insane mode makes a return, a permadeath difficulty level that punishes the smallest of mistakes. After watching someone beat it in a single hour speedrun, it’s possible, but is going to cause a lot of gamers to tear out their hair.

On the flipside, Outlast 2 has one of the goofiest damn trophies/achievements I have ever seen in a video game, let alone one that’s so dark.

During one of the “flashback” sequences, Blake encounters a hallway drenched in blood; it’s being sprayed everywhere by the sprinkler system in a blatant homage to Slayer. As a normal person running for my life, I got out of there as quick as I could, but there’s actually a bit of light relief that you can easily miss.

If you slide along the ground for roughly twelve meters through the blood, you get the “Slip and Slide” achievement/trophy.

If you managed to miss this first time around, you can always go back to the chapter select screen and choose the”Raining Blood” subchapter. Don’t forget to make a run up and put your camera for maximum speed.

Thanks to PowerPyx for revealing this trophy.

In case you missed it, here’s an excerpt from my Outlast 2 review for PS4:

“Its trial and error gameplay is going to irritate plenty of players, but once Outlast 2 has you, it’s a nightmare that you won’t be able or want to wake up from.”
