If you’ve ever wanted to cultivate a paternal relationship with a shrunken down Ellen Page or try to understand what the heck is going on in baseball, today (October 1st) is your lucky day with the release of October 2019’s PlayStation Plus games.
The Last of Us Remastered is the marquee game for the month, it featuring what is regarded as one of the best narratives in any modern game. You play as Joel, a bitter man with a chip on his shoulder who is tasked with ferrying a young girl across the US after an infection ravages the land and makes everyone kinda bitey — and spore-y. I won’t say much else, but all I will say is that there’s a reason why it’s so beloved.
The supporting act is MLB The Show 19, the latest entry in the peculiarly PlayStation exclusive sports series. Having played it already and not really understanding a frame of it while also having a good time, I will be excited to dive back into the swinging and hitting. It’s also a lot less nefarious with its monetisation than its sports games peers, so don’t worry about your credit card.
Remember that new PlayStation Plus games roll out for everyone at different times based on your region, though they should be available from wherever you are at or before noon.
Both of these games were revealed well ahead of time at the most recent State of Play broadcast. They will be available from now until the first Tuesday of November (the day when Sony always adds new Playstation Plus games), which is November 5th.
