My Friend Pedro Already A Massive Success For Devolver Digital

Many players have found it apeeling.

The guys at Devolver Digital look like they have another hit on their hands. The industry weirdos just reported that Deadtoast’s My Friend Pedro, released yesterday (June 20th), is their biggest Switch launch to date.

Devolver shared the news on their Twitter account:

It’s not clear how it’s shaped up on PC, but it looks like SCUM, the survival game from Gamepires, is possibly still Devolver’s most successful PC launch.

Exact figures haven’t been shared, but Pedro’s success was almost assured following an impressive marketing campaign that concluded with an amazing launch trailer. I’d also be intrigued to see how many of its players remember it from its Newgrounds days — I was totally unaware until yesterday.

I have been playing the heck out of Pedro over the last few days, most often on PC for review and to conquer the leaderboards and sometimes also on Switch to enjoy portal genocide. I’ve put together some S-rank tips for you to tuck into if you have some scores to beat, as well as a wee opinion on the game’s neat GIF feature.

From our My Friend Pedro review:

Even though its latter sections left me slightly jaded, they haven’t stopped me from going back through the earlier levels and constantly trying to get higher and higher scores: Something that I can see myself picking up as a hobby. My Friend Pedro is built to be obsessed over by speedrunners and perfectionists, and I can’t to see what kind of lunacy players can pull off.
