Microsoft Delaying Crackdown 3 Until 2019

Crackdown 3

If a new rumour is to be believed, Microsoft have suffered a blow to their potential line-up for the second half of 2018. According to a report by Kotaku, anonymous sources close to Crackdown 3 have confirmed that the long-awaited game is being pushed back once again to 2019.

The third Crackdown game, currently in development at Sumo Digital, was first due to come out in November 2017 to launch alongside the Xbox One X, before being pushed back to the Spring of this year. Now that Spring has been and gone, it does look likely that Crackdown 3 won’t see the light of day until next year.

This news does put a dent in an already weak first party line-up for Xbox and Microsoft, but one has to wonder about the state of cancelled games like Scalebound, Fable Legends and the Phantom Dust remake. If Crackdown 3 can go through this tumultuous development and still have the full support of Xbox, how fucked were the other games?

With Microsoft’s E3 Briefing taking place on Sunday, all eyes are on them to detail how they plan on rectifying their problem with first party exclusives. Let’s be honest though, the answer is probably to throw Halo and Gears of War at the problem until it goes away, which we’d be okay with.
