5. Parks and Recreation
A governmental department might not seem like the ideal setting for you average comedy show, but this show is by no means ordinary. There is somebody that everybody can relate to in this show, whether it’s charming simpleton Andy Dwyer (played by Chris Pratt!), the Andy Samberg-esque ‘trendy’ crowd, the feminist inspiration that is Leslie Knope, cynical and moody April or perhaps self-proclaimed misanthrope Ron, who is the spitting image of the Grumpy Cat meme. 5 years on, the characters continue to grow on us and we’re already nervous in anticipation of the 2015 finale.
4. The Walking Dead
Now in it’s 5th season, record-breaking dystopian future zombie thriller The Walking Dead is one of the most-watched shows to ever be broadcast on a cable network. The series continues to deliver all the guts and gore that is to be expected in such a genre and not a single moment is wasted this season with fast-paced plots that will keep eyes glued to the screen and jaws on the floor, pulling back the fans that had been left doubtful at the slow-paced ending to season 5.
3. Orange is the New Black
A Netflix exclusive show launched in 2013, this year OITNB has been responsible for thousands of girls now questioning their sexuality due to the equally touching and messed up relationship of Alex Vause and Piper Chapman, although the best part by far of this show is that every single character is given a back story. Allegedly, one of the writers actually left her husband to start dating cast member Samira Wiley, better known as the adorable Poussey Washington. The second season launched the show into wider and higher acclaim.
