Marvel’s Avengers Is Out Today (Sort Of)

If you got the pricier editions, that is.

For those who have been waiting to smash in Marvel’s Avengers, today marks its official release date. Well, kind of but not actually.

If you pre-ordered either the Deluxe of Earth’s Mightiest editions of Marvel’s Avengers, you will have three days early access on September 1st to the full game ahead of its “true” release on September 4th for all platforms.

The Deluxe Edition of Marvel’s Avengers costs £74.99 while the Earth’s Mightiest Edition will set you back an eye-popping £209.99, it also coming with physical goodies like statues.

It seems this practice is becoming more and more of a normal thing with pricier editions of games giving early access fairly routinely these days. 2K and EA normalised it with their annual sports releases, and then Anthem went and made it utterly incomprehensible. Marvel’s Avengers’ two release dates are far more straightforward than that disastrous launch, but I still don’t feel it’s right to basically monetise being an early tester for a live service game.

As for the game itself, well, we will just have to wait and see. I played it during its beta and had a fun enough time, though I did have quite a few reservations.

Marvel’s Avengers is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. PS4 players will get exclusive items and even characters, as seen with Spider-Man.
