Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Working On A New Star Wars Film

From one multibillion universe to another.

In a surprise announcement from The Hollywood Reporter, it was confirmed that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is in the process of developing a new Star Wars movie for Disney. No other details were given on the film, other than that Feige is producing alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

According to THR’s sources, Feige apparently met with Kennedy and Disney co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman last summer to discuss the possibility of working on a Star Wars movie, and those plans have clearly come to fruition. Feige has always been open about the fact that he loves Star Wars (he even appeared in an episode of The Star Wars Show), so this opportunity sounds like a dream come true for him. Horn even offered a statement saying that he is excited for Feige to be helping Kennedy create “a new era in Star Wars storytelling”.

Feige has consistently delivered hit after hit for Marvel Studios, with Avengers: Endgame even becoming the highest-grossing film of all time. He was also the recipient of the first Marty Leah Sklar Creative Visionary Award, and he earned an Oscar nomination for Black Panther, in addition to earning a ton of other accolades. So it makes sense that Disney would also want him to be involved with the Star Wars universe, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table. After all, many would credit Feige as being the main reason why the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the highest-grossing film franchise in history, so calling him a talented producer is clearly an understatement.

Disney previously announced that the next three Star Wars films after The Rise of Skywalker will be released on December 16, 2022, December 12, 2024, and December 18, 2026. It seems likely that one of these will be the film which Feige works on, and we expect to hear more details in the near future.
