Lies of P: How to Defeat the Survivor

Lies of P Survivor
Lies of P Survivor

If you’ve found this mini-boss in Venigni’s factory, then, first of all, we want to apologize for your smashed controller. No, seriously, The Survivor is almost certainly the cheapest boss we found in Lies of P. Attacking with a rapier in endless quick strikes and seemingly never running out of stamina, the Survivor is a boss that will test your patience no matter how many Souls-likes you’ve powered your way through.

Luckily, unlike some of the other mini-bosses in Lies of P, this fight is completely optional. To find it, look for a ladder near the area inside of the factory where a couple of dolls jump off of the conveyor above and attack. In the room behind them, there is a ladder down, and that’s where the Survivor is hiding.

The first thing you’ll notice after the Survivor reveals how insane he’s gone is that the room you have to fight him in is very small. Don’t bother trying to climb back up the ladder and do a plummeting strike on him, either, as he will go back to his starting point if you climb the ladder. Note that if you want to escape the fight, you can easily do so by attacking him by the desk and then running for the ladder.

Either way, with his absurdly fast attack speed and unpredictable swings, it might seem impossible to defeat the Survivor. However, your trump card here is that he can be backstabbed. Rest assured that we tried to beat him for an extended period of time before resorting to this technique, frowned upon as it often is in the Souls-like community, but this seems like the only way to go aside from coming back much later in the game and tanking him.

The Survivor’s rapier attacks are undoubtedly faster than any weapon you have at this point, and he can swing anywhere from once to seven times in a row, making it nearly impossible to predict the safe point between his attacks to capitalize on him. This is why, for your own sanity, we recommend you just dodge away and circle around him while looking for the red claw indicator on his back that lets you know you can do a backstab on him.

Don’t even bother with trying for status effects, perfect guards, staggering, or any other strategy. Just pick a quick weapon that you’re comfortable with and look for your opening to punish the mini-boss. After all, this unrelenting mini-boss doesn’t show you an ounce of mercy, so it’s only appropriate to reciprocate.
