Jeff Hardy made history on Monday night after defeating Jinder Mahal to capture the United States Championship.

The long-time fan favourite picked up his very first United States title reign after disposing of his recently-drafted opponent and in doing so has put himself head and shoulders above his contemporaries.

Hardy is the only WWE Superstar in the company’s history to have held the WWE (x1), World Heavyweight (x2), Intercontinental (x4), United States (x1), World Tag Team (x6), RAW Tag Team (x1), European (x1), Hardcore (x3) and Light Heavyweight (x1) championships. Along with brother Matt, he has also held the WCW and ROH Tag Team Championships.

Despite a number of notable and very public setbacks in his career, it’s a testament to Hardy’s staying power and charisma that he finds himself in receipt of such an honour.

Hardy was drafted to SmackDown Live as part of the Superstar Shake-Up on Tuesday night with Matt staying on RAW as he and new partner Bray Wyatt get ready to duke it out with The Bar for the vacant RAW Tag Team Championships at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27.
