In an interview with USA Today, Denzel Washington spoke about his new film Little Things, which he stars in with Jared Leto. According to Washington, Leto didn’t attempt any of his method acting antics on the set of Little Things, which gained infamy when he was promoting Suicide Squad in 2016.

Jared Leto’s Method Acting History

While filming Suicide Squad, Leto stayed in character while on set and sent his co-stars some creepy gifts, including a dead rat and a pig’s body. He also insisted on walking around blind while working on Blade Runner 2049.

Washington spoke candidly about his dislike for antics like that, saying that he would have paid Leto a visit if he tried to pull anything similar on him. He said the pair stayed away from each other, which helped create tension on set when the two did meet in character.

Strangely enough, it would seem that Washington himself actually indulged in bit of method acting. He said: “I’d follow him around. I was outside of his apartment sometimes and he didn’t know. I won’t say anything more about it. I’ll put it this way, he didn’t know.” Obviously, this was done because Washington’s character is a deputy sheriff who is investigating Leto’s Albert Sparma, and helped propel the antagonism needed for the screen, but it’s still a little disconcerting – no?

Little Things will be released January 29, 2021, in theatres and HBO Max.
