High cchool DxD is often called the best harem-romance anime out there. It’s got the right blend of supernatural powers, harem size, and comedic moments that just make everyone who watches it giggle. That’s also why the series has had a really strong run with both its light novel sales and multiple seasons. Unfortunately, while High School DxD: Season 5 is highly anticipated, there’s nothing but radio silence on its renewal.
The light novel is so far ahead that a fifth season can easily be adapted, but the studio hasn’t revealed any plans to do anything yet. When Is High School DxD: Season 5 Coming Out?
High School DxD: Season 5 does not have a release date right now. It hasn’t been announced to be in the works yet so even if it were announced anytime soon, it wouldn’t hit streaming services until a year or two later.
A rumor did arise sometime back that High School DxD: Season 5 was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic like the NieR: Automata anime, but it’s been far too long since and we still haven’t seen any announcements. For now, it’s more of a guessing game until Crunchyroll makes it official.
What Is High School DxD: Season 5 About? (Spoiler Alert)
High School DxD: Season 5 will be continuing “The Heroic Oppai Dragon” arc from the light novel. Till now 10 volumes have been adapted, so the 11th volume is where the fifth season will pick up from.
The Middle-Class Promotion Test is coming up in Kuoh Academy, so Issei, Akeno, and Kiba start to prepare for it. You might’ve guessed already that this is going to be like the typical harem scenes we’ve seen so far with Issei. As for the plot, Azazel brings the Ouroboros Dragon and leader of the Khaos Brigade, Ophis, to meet Issei and that’s where the real trouble begins cooking up.
Studio Is Making High School DxD: Season 5?
Studio Passione is likely to animate High School DxD: Season 5 since they made the fourth season too. Having Passione as the production company was a huge departure for the series since all the first three seasons were works of Studio TNK (Seven Mortal Sins).
Compared to TNK, Passione’s visual representation of the characters was very different, so there was a lot of negativity surrounding this change, and to some extent still is. Having a fifth season of High School DxD with anybody animating it will make fans happy at this point.
Where Will High School DxD: Season 5 Be Aired?
High School DxD: Season 5 is likely to air on Crunchyroll along with its subsidiary Funimation. Crunchyroll is the official licensee for the anime and so it’s also the only place where every season of the anime is available to stream currently. Other streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu either don’t have the anime at all or just the first two seasons.
Netflix has been acquiring the rights to stream many anime recently like with Baki, and Vinland Saga, so it’s entirely possible that because a lot of time has passed since we last saw the High School DxD, its newest season may air on Netflix as well.
