E3 has passed once more. Each show always demonstrated a game on a grandeur level. Certain IPs, that captivate the gaming community. Clutching the hype. Keeping eagerness afloat for fans. In Sony’s E3 2016 show, we were shown what many were hoping for. I’m speaking of the anticipated God of War sequel.

The combination of live orchestra; music, dazzling modern graphics, character driven narrative, and modified gameplay made us all wanting more. Such a demonstration gave ascension to certain points being greatly anticipated.

Here’s a list of what we all can’t wait to experience in this probable PlayStation classic.

The Soundtrack

We’ve already got a taste of what’s to come with this musical score. The epicness of the franchise has always captivated the player’s inner Spartan to rise and conquer any challenge. When a new enemy made their debut, whether it be a critter, titan, or even a god, the music highlighted just how grand the situation was. Each entry of the series always gave an excellent tune that even now we still can recall. Let’s keep that trait alive and well as we open a new chapter in this odyssey.

Norse Mythological Weaponry

God of War always kept its staple weapon, the blades of(insert a name here)in each entry. After the reveal, we see a new apparatus taking shape in the Ghost of Sparta’s hands, a broad axe. Perhaps he’s grasping a tool that will become the new main weapon for the lore? In conjunction to that, God of War kept stacking arsenals for Kratos to use amongst the different opponents. Different gadgets, that had an impact in Greek mythology. Now that we’re exploring the Norwegian fables, we can hope to use some of their weaponry. Anyone up for cracking down Thor with his own hammer, Mjolnir? If that’s too obvious, then what about the famous spear, Gungnir? That could be used to puncture its wielder, Odin.

New areas to explore

With Greece being annihilated, we’re going to need a new setting. Traveling through the Scandinavian landscape at E3 showed us a dribble of Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim, with a pinch of today’s open, yet not open world mechanics. The detail and sounds portrayed, gave us a glimpse that we will be amongst the wild again. In this tale of exploring where the Norse Mythos treaded, we can’t wait to see how much Santa Monica Studio creates scenery that astonishes us once more.

Modernized Graphics

This will be the first for PlayStation 4. Fine elements were shown, and since this was just a demo of what’s to come, we can all imagine that the graphics will only improve with environments, skin tones and scarring – you could see each strand of Kratos’s new beard. The detail of the deer’s fur as it’s stabbed by the God of War and his kin. With the PS4 backing our warrior, we can’t wait to have the final draft revealed.

Magical abilities

Every God of War relied on the mystical properties of magic for offensive capabilities, or story driven moments. Now that we’re playing at a new technological level, we can’t imagine what creativity we’ll see. Gameplay that’s revolved around the sword and sorcery aspect, have displayed new sources of entertainment for gamers to embrace. Let’s hope the supernatural fundamentals go unbound.

Revived gameplay

When you view the E3 trailer, you’ll notice the camera angled behind Kratos, or his son. Besides the short mini boss fight with the troll, you kept following the Spartan around. Not like the older games, where we had a more omnipotent view from above. Now it’s like you’re perched on his shoulder. A new concept, that we can go with. The aim and shoot mechanic, with Kratos’s axe, or his son’s bow provided us a new gimmick to rely on when combat begins. It also kept some of the nostalgic gore, and brutal melee that gave God of War its reputation. The new RPG stats were a perk too. Increase in archery, and deterioration from use; more Skyrim traits that have become a occurrence in games in 2016. But if that’s true, what else will we start improving on through repetitive uses? We must know.

Character debuts

An introduction was made for two key characters. Kratos’s son, who is starting a new beginning. He’s attempting to be worthy of being the son of the one who bested the Olympian gods. Watching him try to continue the legacy set before him will be interesting experience. On a more enigmatic note, the revealing of the boy’s mother will be most promising. Is she a valkyrie? A Norse goddess? Or perhaps a survivor of Kratos’s purge of Olympus?

Norwegian Gods and Goddesses

Let’s be honest, it’s always been about becoming a god slayer. Everyone wants to see Santa Monica Studio’s interpretation of the famous Norse deities. Special case to a certain trio on the celestial family tree. I’m looking at you Odin, Thor, and Loki. Since the Marvel Cinematic Studios movies, those three have become noticeable in pop culture. In God of War III, Hercules was voiced by Kevin Sorbo. You might remember him playing the demigod back in the 90’s. Wouldn’t it be a neat easter egg if they gave him an encore? Only this time, let’s have the Marvel thespians reprise their roles.

This ten minute prelude just gave us a taste. We all want more to be unveiled, as we play as Kratos once more. Let’s unleash chaos, folks.
