The climactic ending of Gleipnir’s first season has left many fans biting their nails and wondering what’s next with Shuichi and Claire’s struggles. Both of them are still trapped in a literal game of life and death in which other players are gunning for them, so when will they break free?
Just as the first season started getting sweet and the story finally had some momentum going, the anime finished airing. It’s sad news to hear but years later, Gleipnir: Season 2 has shown no signs of manifestation. Regardless, let’s take a look at everything we know so far about the anime, there might even be something that hints towards a sequel.
When Is Gleipnir: Season 2 Coming Out?
Alas, there’s no set release date for Gleipnir: Season 2. The anime hasn’t been lucky enough to get renewed by Crunchyroll thus far despite it being very popular.
The manga has over 12 volumes in circulation, so there’s more than enough story to be adapted into a new season. Gleipnir was among the most watched anime of Spring 2020, and while it’s flustering that there’s nada on future plans, a second season seems like it’ll definitely happen, but not as soon as you’d expect.
What Is Gleipnir: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)
The anime actually had an original ending in episode 13 and there were a few other changes from the source material that happened as well. It’s still unclear where Gleipnir: Season 2 will begin but our best guess, for now, is chapter 36 of the manga.
Shuichi and Claire want to finish the game by collecting the 100 coins, but they’re constantly becoming a target of the ruthlessness of other players. The story continues with both of them, and their companions, moving across the mountain range in search of the coins, but a scent Shuichi picks up leads them all straight to a group of bonafide killers. Each of the foes possesses unimaginable powers, so as the tension starts to rise, all hell breaks loose in the area.
Which Studio Is Making Gleipnir: Season 2?
The stellar visuals you saw in Gleipnir were brought to you by Studio Pine Jam. You might’ve heard of Just Because!, the famous slice-of–life anime widely praised for its animation. That’s actually Pine Jam’s work right there too.
It hasn’t been confirmed who’s animating Gleipnir: Season 2 yet, but because Pine Jam went above and beyond expectations, let’s just hope the anime doesn’t change hands.
Where Will Gleipnir: Season 2 Be Aired?
Like the previous season, expect to watch Gleipnir: Season 2 on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Prime Video. Although, you can’t count out other streaming services just yet as Netflix and Hulu both have been expanding their library quickly, so we may just see the anime there too when it returns.
Life is quite boring when your favorite anime doesn’t have a second season, and unfortunately, there isn’t much anybody can do for Gleipnir: Season 2 except waiting. As that’s the case, here’s a spectacular list of 15 best anime openings of all time that you need to listen to, plus, you’ll get so lost in the melodies that who knows, the sequel might’ve just arrived by then.
