Fortnite’s Tilted Towers Didn’t Get Hit By A Meteor As Prophesied

Fortnite: Battle Royale

Despite what some very sleuth-y fans might have thought, Tilted Towers remains intact after a mysterious meteor was speculated to hit it today following the most recent content update.

The theory around the meteor spread like wildfire (and like a plague on YouTube with clickbait video after clickbait video), but the speculation wasn’t just based in hope — Redditors compiled a pretty compelling case for Tilted getting destroyed based on the geography, the meteor constantly getting closer, and the date falling in line with a famous incident in Poland’s PoznaÅ„, which the Fortnite map is partly based upon.

Oh, and also one incredibly detail-orientated player discovered that random controller vibrations came out in morse code to the co-ordinates of Tilted Towers. That’s pretty damn spooky.

The goodbye party for Tilted was held last night with thousands of players descending on the game’s biggest hotspot to break it to pieces. Everyone who attended could only wear default skins or face the penalty of death — quite the serious meme.

It was all for nought, however, as players logged back in after the V3.5 downtime to see that Tilted was still very much intact.

What should have given the ruse away was that when the meteor was investigated with a spectograph, the resulting image happened.

Yes, that’s the Take The L dance and yes that is high-level trolling by Epic Games.

Of course, the meteor could still hit or have some kind of effect for the end of the season. Epic may not have wanted to too drastically update the game after so many issues lately, or perhaps they just wanted to not disappoint anyone jumping into the new 50v50. Even simpler: there are still challenges that you could complete in Tilted.

Whatever the case, the theme of season 3 is space so there’s still room for some grand event for Fortnite by season’s close. Tilted Towers, while being the game’s most popular landing spot, doesn’t appeal to everyone and kind of tilts the gameplay towards everyone dying too soon and interrupting the flow of matches. Rather than them obliterating Tilted, I would prefer to see them reduce it in size/loot and then add another similar city on the other side of the map.
