One of the biggest complaints about Fortnite: Chapter 2 to date has been how much slower matches feel, especially with how much bigger the map is. It also doesn’t help that the first storm circle can sometimes take its sweet time to kick off.
It looks like Epic are trying to speed up the start of Fortnite games by making those sluggish storm circles at the start go quicker, according to info discovered by Hypex.
The first Storm Circle in matches has been modified, they are probably trying to make match less boring by making the storms smaller/faster:
Starting Radius: from 24 to 23
Shrink Time: from 240 seconds to 210
Wait Time: from 200 seconds to 170— HYPEX (@HYPEX) August 5, 2020
What the above means essentially is that the starting circle is now a little smaller, starts shrinking earlier and even shrink quicker, meaning there’s less time to mess around at the start of a match. You may need to loot up quicker than you’re used to.
It’s unlikely that this will make a massive difference to the speed of the game, however. The midgame is where Fortnite really tends to sag with little action to speak of. The map is also just generally a little too big and there are too many people landing at the Mythic spots to get the best loot, meaning that the lobby empties out pretty dramatically within the first circle.
Hopefully with the addition of cars, the pacing of Fortnite matches will also improve. Cars also play music, and here’s a full list of the licensed tracks currently in the game that we could hear.
Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 3 is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
