UPDATE: Neil Druckmann, co-president of TLOU developers Naughty Dog, has denied the collaboration.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fortnite‘s collaborated with a lot of properties in recent times, with Epic seemingly not being too fussed over just how child-friendly those properties are. The upcoming The Last of Us collab in Fortnite is maybe the most adult one yet.

Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is a PlayStation series that first started back in 2013, launching to critical acclaim with it almost immediately being hailed as one of the best games of all time. Following Joel and Ellie in a post-apocalyptic world, the story focuses on trying to find a cure for a deadly infection but the real quality of the game shines through in its more personal moments between the two protagonists. A sequel followed in 2020, with the first game being rather controversially remade for PS5 and PC this year.

And now, The Last of Us is coming to Fortnite. Here’s everything you need to know about this newest collaboration.

At this time of writing, the collaboration hasn’t been confirmed but was instead leaked by insider info on the Xbox Era podcast in which they mentioned the crossover was in the works.

Leaker and reputable Fortnite news source ShiinaBR then corroborated those reports, later saying that the skins will be for Joel and Ellie, with the collaboration being in the offing for quite some time. It was most likely discussed between Sony, Naughty Dog, and Epic at the same time as the Uncharted crossover.

The Ellie skin will most likely be based on how she looks in the second game, as she will be too short if it’s based on her from the first game.

Fortnite The Last of Us Skin Prices

The Fortnite and The Last of Us skins, just based on the Uncharted skins, should cost 1500 V-Bucks apiece when they release in the Fortnite Item Shop.

Players will also be able to get their hands on a bundle of all of the TLOU cosmetics in one handy place, such as Back Blings, Pickaxes, and almost definitely a Firefly spray. The bundle will most likely cost 2000+ V-Bucks.

Fortnite The Last of Us Skin Release Date

The Fortnite and TLOU collab is expected to drop sometime in September 2022 to coincide with the release of The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5.

It will most likely stay in the Item Shop for up to a week, though perhaps even longer to tie-in with the marketing cycle of the game. The skins will then most likely be updated and released again when the HBO show rolls around.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
