Fortnite Season 8: Paradise Palms & Shifty Shafts Chest Locations

Chest for business.

Fortnite season 8

Fortnite Season 8, Week 5 has dropped and with it comes another search 7 chests challenge that have been popularised by the Overtime challenges of Season 7. This challenge requires you search 7 chests at either Paradise Palms or Shifty Shafts. You can mix and match which location you get credit at, so you’re not forced to commit to a single location. Put differently, a chest in either location will count; they don’t all need to be from the same location.

Chest spawns in Fortnite are predetermined, but not guaranteed. What this means is that when you check a location for a chest spawn, there is a chance that it won’t be there for that specific match. However, it’s worth checking that location in subsequent games as it may still spawn there.

The best strategy remains the same: try to land at whichever location is furthest from the Battle Bus. Aim directly for a chest spawn and then rotate to as many chests as you can before competition arrives. If both locations are within close proximity of the Battle Bus, Paradise Palms has more chest spawns in general and isn’t necessarily trafficked more due to being further from the centre of the map. Prioritise Paradise Palms in this case.

Competition is often quite cutthroat at the beginning of the week when this type of challenge comes out. To expedite the process of competing for chests, we have a map of the locations that have all the chest locations we could find. As this is a top-down view, it’s important to note that some spawns are either above or below ground level, so keep that in mind.

Paradise Palms Chest Locations

As mentioned earlier, this is the better location of the two in most situations (unless the Battle Bus passes close to it, then Shifty Shafts is better). There tends to be a chest in every building in the area, simplifying where to look a decent amount. The only real issue is that you need to check multiple floors of each location, which can be a tad time consuming, but rather guaranteed.

Shifty Shafts is definitely the least desirable option of the two, as it’s centrally located so the Battle Bus tends to always pass in close proximity and it has three floors to check. There are heaps of winding tunnels and chests hidden behind walls out of direct line of sight, making finding them even significantly more difficult. If it’s completely abandoned however, it’s still worth checking out as no competition is the biggest expediter of all.

This challenge will take a fair few attempts unless you get extremely lucky with an abandoned Paradise Palms. Completing this challenge ASAP is definitely a little grounded in luck. Waiting a few days will see the traffic significantly ease up though, so waiting is a valid strategy for saving time as well. Week 5 has quite a few challenges that require trekking around the map: eliminations at Pirate Camps, using a Volcano Vent, zipline and vehicle and restoring 50 shields with Mushrooms. Be prepared to run around a lot this week.
