Fortnite: Season 8 has played host to a lot of new weapons and even said goodbye to some favourites, but it’s fair to say that nobody expected the Automatic Sniper Rifle to make a return.
Modelled after the real life weapon the VSS, the Automatic Sniper Rifle is closer to a semi-auto sniper that an automatic one in Fortnite, except it really isn’t very good at all. It’s a super common weapon as well, so expect to see it quite a lot.
First introduced way back in Chapter 1, here’s what you need to know about the Automatic Sniper Rifle in Fortnite: Season 8.
Automatic Sniper Rifle Stats
Weapon | Automatic Sniper Rifle |
---|---|
Rarity | Rare |
Damage | 37 |
Fire Rate | 4 |
Reload Time | 3.8 seconds |
Magazine Size | 16 |
Ammo Type | Sniper |
The stats for the Automatic Sniper Rifle in its Rare rarity are above.
The Automatic Sniper Rifle does low damage per hit, less than 70 for a headshot. As well as that, it just doesn’t seem all that accurate, doesn’t fire fast enough to catch players before they box up, and also eats up far too much precious Sniper ammo.
Unless you’re trying to complete some kind of challenge, the Automatic Sniper Rifle is one weapon in Fortnite that you should probably try to avoid.
Automatic Sniper Rifle Location
The Automatic Sniper Rifle is very easy to come across, it spawning in most chests across the map.
While you can’t do anything with them right now, it seems that Epic will allow you to craft other, better snipers at some point this season while using the Automatic Sniper Rifle as a basis.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
