Every new season of Fortnite brings with it some new weapons, and Season 8 might have one of the most fascinating guns yet: the Sideways Rifle.

Looking similar to the Lever Action Rifle, the Sideways Rifle is a rifle that is best at range. What makes it more interesting, though, is the fact that it does more damage the hotter it gets, which isn’t a feature that has ever been in Fortnite.

Here’s everything you should know about the Sideways Rifle that was added for Season 8.

“Otherwordly rifle that gains bonus damage while the weapon is hot.”

The above are stats for the Sideways Rifle in its Epic rarity, which is the rarest and best version that the weapon is available in, unless you venture into The Sideways and defeat waves of Cube Monsters.

On paper, it’s not the best weapon, but when you consider how it deals bonus damage and has a solid rate of fire, the Sideways Rifle might be quite deadly in the right hands.

You will be able to craft the Sideways Rifle with Cube Monster Parts, which are dropped by Cube Monsters in The Sideways.

To craft in Fortnite, enter your inventory (up on the d-pad on controller), then navigate to the right. As long as you have all of the parts, you should then be able to craft the weapon.

Even if it only goes up to Epic rarity, the Sideways Rifle isn’t a gun that you’re going to find all that often, at least as you don’t travel to specific areas of the map.

The Sideways Rifle is available in the titular Sideways, new areas of the map featuring monsters and exclusive loot. You can find these by venturing into the orange areas of your map.

Bear in mind that the Sideways changes location each match.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
