Fortnite Season 7, Week 9 is here and things are going their typical route. The Snowfall challenges are still available along with the Sgt. Winter challenges. A new set of event challenges are also out, called ‘Showtime’ challenges, with the first of the three just released and more to come in 24 hours.
This week’s challenges are actually very involved indeed, with three of the seven requiring guides and a significant time investment to complete (especially the Golden Balloons). This plus the special event style challenges promises a lot of extra content for those Fortnite challenge hounds. Remember though, this is the second to last week of the season, so if there is a particular Battle Pass reward you’re aiming for before the end of the season, best get a move on: you only have two weeks left.
Fortnite Season 7: Week 9 Free Tiers
Use a Sneaky Snowman in different matches (3 times) [5 Battle Stars]
For the uninitiated into the Winter Wonderland of modern Fortnite, the Sneaky Snowman is essentially a Christmas themed version of the ‘sneaky bush’ item you could use for camouflage. These are of grey quality and you can throw them as well as ‘use’ them to don the camouflage. Simply locate one in a match and equip the camouflage to receive credit, do this over three different matches and easy done.
Multi-stage: Land at various locations (5 stages) [5 Battle Stars]
Another typical ‘land in this location’ multi-stage challenge. This week’s location order is: Retail Row > Frosty Flights > Haunted Hills > Shifty Shafts > Dusty Divot.
Elimination opponents at Junk Junction or Retail Row (3 eliminations) [10 Battle Stars]
Standard kill challenge focusing on location. This week your choices are between Junk Junction or Retail Row. Retail Row is usually the more trafficked region of the two by a significant margin. Land here for a few games and you’ll get it done.
Fortnite Season 7: Week 9 Battle Pass Tiers
Pop 10 Golden Balloons (10 Balloons) [5 Battle Stars]
A very involved challenge that requires you pop 10 Golden Balloon strewn about the map. This is your usual scavenger hunt challenge that is quite difficult and time consuming. Worst of all it appears that each balloon can only be popped once per game (that means you’re competing with everyone else on the map as well), which a stark departure from Epic’s usual design. You can find our article dedicated to this challenge here.
Multi-stage: Dance at 3 named locations (3 stages) [5 Battle Stars]
Another involved challenge in which each stage will give you the description of a landmark you need to locate, then jump on top of. The order goes: Sundial > Oversized Coffee Cup > Giant Metal Dog Head. We have an article dedicated to this challenge and their locations, you can find it here.
Shotgun Eliminations (3 eliminations) [10 Battle Stars]
A very standard challenge, find shotgun, point shotgun at enemy, fire shotgun. Three eliminations is all you need with a very strong weapon type to finish this challenge off. Just keep landing in highly trafficked locations and you’ll be done in no time.
Complete 3 time trials with the X-4 Stormwing Plane (3 time trials) [10 Battle Stars]
The timed trial style challenge from previous seasons have made their appearance for Season 7. Very similar in concept to previous iterations: find start line > go through checkpoints > finish within time limit > receive credit. The difference with this one compared to the previous versions is you’re required to use a Stormwing and run a small aerial obstacle course high above the map. You can find our challenge guide dedicated to it here.
