Fortnite Season 7, Week 8 sees the reuse of the classical ‘treasure hunt’ challenge after being forgotten for long for Battle Pass challenges. This challenge, which asks you to Search Between A Mysterious Hatch, A Giant Rock Lady & A Precarious Flatbed, functions just like Week 5’s version of the challenge, going so far as to share some of the same landmarks, similar landmarks and similar search locations. This challenge requires you to find a Battle Star buried at the centre point between three intersecting landmarks (i.e. triangulation).
Like all treasure hunt specific challenges (the ones that ask you to find a single buried battle star), you do not need to do any of the previous searching to find the Battle Star itself. Put differently, you do not need to find all the landmarks before the treasure itself is accessible. Therefore, you can skip right to the end of the guide or check out our map if you want to know where the treasure is specifically.
For those of you who like to sniff around for the treasure themselves, but don’t want to search the whole map – or are unfamiliar with the landmarks – the next image shows the ‘general’ location the treasure hunt takes place. It will contain all three landmarks and the treasure within’ the red circle.
General Area Of The Treasure Hunt
As you can see, the general area of this treasure hunt is in and around Wailing Woods, not a stone’s throw away from Week 5’s variant on the challenge.
Landmarks And Treasure Location Map
The landmarks are as follows: the Stone Lady is circled in yellow, the Precarious Flatbed is circled in blue and the Mysterious Hatch is circled in green. The ultimate goal, the treasure, is circled in red.
All three landmarks tend to be fairly close to one another, all occupying maybe a single grid’s worth of space. So whilst there isn’t too much running around required, the Stone Lady and Treasure are both atop steep hills which may require either you: land up there, build up there or fly up there.
Fortnite Giant Rock Lady
Just like Week 5, this treasure hunt has a Giant Rock person involved, but this time a lady instead of a man. You can find this piece of rock art on a hill to the southeast of Wailing Wood’s centre location (just north of Lonely Lodge). This appears as I4 on the main map’s grid.
Fortnite Mysterious Hatch
This particular hatch in Wailing Woods has been in the game since as early as Season 4, sparking quite a bit of speculation about what’s inside. To date, it still hasn’t revealed its secrets while Epic happily makes use of it as a landmark for various treasure hunts. You’ll find this hatch in the northern part of Wailing Woods (just above the first ‘o’ in woods), with a cabin to its west. Located at I3 on the main map’s grid.
Fortnite Precarious Flatbed
The final landmark is a flatbed truck hanging quite precariously indeed off the cliff into the ocean. You’ll find this truck on the very eastern edge of the map, directly east of the Wailing Woods centre. J3 on the main map’s grid.
Fortnite Season 7 Week 8 Treasure Hunt Battle Star
Like all landmark based treasure hunts, you’ll find the treasure at the centre of these three locations. You’ll find your Battle Star atop the hill just northeast of the Giant Rock Lady, which sports a small ‘bald’ patch (i.e. not covered in snow). This bald patch is the treasure star’s resting place.
That’s all there really is to it for this challenge and for this week’s Battle Pass specific challenges. If you’re looking for our usual article on those, you can find our Fortnite Season 7 Week 8 Battle Pass challenges walkthrough here. However, there are event specific challenges available, with ‘Ice Storm’ being out and the Ice King beginning his invasion, so there more challenges than usual for you to sink your teeth into as well as invading NPCs (Ice Fiends) and the map being completely frozen over. Happy hunting.
