Nanite now, sleep well.

After having previously been found in the files a week ago, a hotfix has now made Alien Nanites the newest item in Fortnite, but what are they and how do they work?

Well, as you might expect from this name, this alien technology actually has more than a simple purpose as both an item and a crafting material. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite’s newest item, including how you use them for crafting and where they are found.

How To Use Alien Nanites

“These Alien Nanites are highly adaptable. Throw ‘em on the ground for an instant taste of alien biosphere or try using them on an Item to craft something new!”

If you throw this gelatinous item down, they will create a low-gravity biome, meaning that you can float around within its bubble. You can jump to swim around and crouch to try and exit the bubble.

You won’t take any fall damage if you swim/jump out of the top of a Nanite biome.

Alien Nanites Crafting

As well as that, you can also use Alien Nanites to craft weapons into alien weapons. With Nanites in your inventory, you can craft all sorts of weapons that you can’t with the normal crafting system.

A couple of examples:

– Combine 1x Alien Nanites with a Rare+ Submachine Gun to create a Kymera Ray Gun
– Combine 1x Alien Nanites with a Rare+ Assault Rifle to create a Pulse Rifle
– Combine 1x Alien Nanites with a Rare+ Sniper to create a Rail Gun

To craft in Fortnite, go into your inventory and then press R1 or RB if you’re using a controller to get to the crafting menu. Then, with the resources you need, press square/X on your controller to craft the item.

Make sure to experiment with Alien Nanites in-game and see what you can find. There will also be new weapons that can only be made with this crafting system down the line.

Where To Find Alien Nanites

While you might think that you have to venture over to Holly Hedges, which has been transformed by the aliens, for this item, Alien Nanites actually spawn most frequently on the ground, on top of Abductors, and in the Mothership, with the latter being where they’re most commonplace.

If you’re reading this on update day (July 6th) and wondering where the abductors and Mothership are, these are rotating fixtures of the Fortnite map that will come and go over the course of Season 7.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
