Mechanical Parts are a new crafting resource added at the start of Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6 that are required for Mechanical Weapons.

Mechanical Parts can be found in the urban areas of the Fortnite island, such as Lazy Lake and Retail Row, by harvesting vehicles, as well as trailers, buses and even as drops from some NPCs. They seem much rarer to find than Animal Bones.

You need Mechanical Parts for Season 6’s crafting system, specifically to upgrade weapons. In the case of the Pump Shotgun, you are able to upgrade to its Epic and Legendary SPAS variants by using four or so Mechanical Parts.

You can check how many Mechanical Parts you have in Fortnite by going into your inventory and then checking under resources.

The crafting system is certainly an interesting addition to Fortnite, though it is also very needlessly complex. Hopefully once people grow to understand it a bit more and figure out where everything is, it will be better implemented than in Apex Legends, Epic’s clear inspiration.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
