Fortnite Season 5 Guide: Week 8 Battle Pass Challenges Walkthrough

Fortnite

Week eight: the third to last week of the season is here and everything is still status quo, with the reset day being returned to the Thursday. Three of the seven weekly challenges are still free, while the other four still require the Battle Pass to complete. Therefore, if you want all seven challenges for the week, you need to purchase a Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks. If you’d prefer to wait, you can buy the Battle Pass any time throughout the season and be granted access to all challenges from week’s previous. However, we’re in the third to last week of the season and once the season ends, the rewards will no longer be available. If you do purchase now, make sure you have the time spare to grind out all the current and previous challenges.

Below is a list of the seven challenges for week eight and how to complete them.

Place traps (10 Traps)
The wildcard challenge for the week. You need to place ten traps, any trap counts, not just the damage ones. So collect and just spam place as you go, shouldn’t take long.

Search chests in Wailing Woods (7 chests)
Ditching last weeks ‘stage’ style chest challenge, Epic returns to form with the traditional search seven chests in X location. The location this week is Wailing Woods. Those of you that have endured the Wailing Wood’s chest week from last season, you’ll know how bad this location is. Chests aren’t numerous, they aren’t dense, guns aren’t common and a lot of the chests are exposed. This is probably the worst location in the game for this kind of challenge. Expect it to take a fair bit of time.

Shotgun eliminations (4 eliminations)
The standard get eliminations with Y weapon type, with shotguns being the weapon type for the week. One of the easiest weapons type possible. Shotguns are prolific, come in numerous forms and every rarity and are extremely effective. You’ll complete this one without even meaning to.

Deal damage with a pickaxe to opponents (250 damage)
Standard damage with X weapon type challenge. This week, however, requires using the pickaxe. Like last season, this challenge is a complete pain, but there are two ways to speed the process up. If you’re doing it while the challenge is fresh, landing near someone and smacking them with a pick will most likely bait them into a pickaxe duel as they also want to complete the challenge. The longer you wait, however, the more and more likely others will have completed the challenge and just run from you. Anyone with experience pickaxing a running target knows it’s borderline impossible. The other and even easier option, is to queue duos/squads and down a player with a gun, build a box around them (for safety!) and pick them while in their downed state. Damage done to downed targets counts towards the total, which makes the whole thing considerably more manageable.

Use a Rift at different Rift spawn locations (10 Rifts)
The scavenger hunt style challenge for the week and very similar to week five’s challenge in which you had to use three rift portals. Like that challenge, these ten rifts don’t need to be used in the same game (that would be absurd), but you do need to use Rifts that spawn in different general areas. If you’re looking for a map of where those spawn locations are, we have an updated guide of our initial Rift guide, located here.

Search between three Oversized Seats
The classic treasure hunt challenge that so faithfully returns every week. Continuing on from last week, this week’s treasure hunt is of the landmark variety. If searching around doesn’t appeal to you, or want your tiers ASAP, we have you covered.

Eliminate an opponent in different locations (1 eliminations)
Last week seen the introduction of the ‘multi-stage’ challenge and Epic seems to be fond of it, having it return. However, instead of searching different locations for chests each stage, we’re looking for eliminations in specific locations instead. Just like last week, the challenge requires you complete each stage in separate games, as each stage won’t reveal itself (the challenge won’t update) until you finish the match.
