Fortnite Season 4 Guide: Fourth Blockbuster Challenge Walkthrough

With the unlocking of week 4’s Battle Pass challenges comes the ability to access the fourth Blockbuster challenge for the season. For the uninitiated, the Blockbuster challenges are ‘hidden’ challenges only accessible once certain prerequisites are met.

To unlock the Blockbuster challenges you must complete all the challenges in a week to progress. There are 7 weeks of Blockbuster challenges and 10 weeks of Battle Pass challenges in total. This means you only need to fully complete 7 weeks to unlock all Blockbuster challenges.

Now you may be thinking, “where is the actual Blockbuster challenge? I only see a picture reward, not a challenge!” Well, here’s how they’re hidden: once you complete a week’s challenge you’ll be gifted a loading screen picture. This picture is the challenge description. Unlike the normal challenges which dole out instructions with words, these loading screen pictures have the instructions hidden on it. Therefore, to complete a Blockbuster challenge, you need to decipher the secret location where the treasure is hidden.

In terms of rewards, the Blockbuster challenges are fairly meaty; rewarding 10 Battle Stars (a full Battle Tier). However, unlike other Battle Pass challenges, the Blockbuster reward is not something you can skip to. Other ‘treasure location’ based challenges allow you to skip exploratory steps and go straight to the treasure if you already know where it’s hiding; this is not the case with a Blockbuster treasure. The treasure will not spawn until you’ve completed the prerequisites. This means you need to unlock the relevant loading screen picture for the treasure to spawn, which by extension means completing the standard Battle Pass challenges for the given weeks.

Of the four pictures released, they tend to follow a pattern in how they present the hidden location of the treasure. That is, the location of the treasure is ‘superfluous information’. Put differently, there doesn’t appear to be any correlation between the ‘story’ the picture is telling and where the treasure might be located.

This week’s picture opts to go the same route as week 1 and week 3. That being, hiding the location of the treasure on the picture itself (rather than week 2’s coordinates). However, unlike week 3, the picture opts to make the general location of the treasure obvious, but the specific location bit more cryptic, with a sharp and zoomed in camera angle.

The treasure location

At immediate glance (if you’re familiar with the map), it should be obvious the treasure is located somewhere in the supervillian’s base (B4/B5 on the main map’s grid). If you’re unsure where the base is I’ve included a picture of a map with the area circled. Additionally, we have an article on the ‘secret bases’ of season 4, you can check that here.

The tricky part with this particular Blockbuster challenge is finding the exact spot in the base the treasure is located. After initially making a mess of the base by building ramps everywhere and breaking everything in sight, I came across the treasure on a piece of scaffolding that the holds the rocket upright. The easiest way to find this treasure is by not making a mess like I did, but approaching from the roof. A picture’s worth a thousand words.

Simply land on the roof (or build up) at the beginning of the match and approach the large circular hole the rocket juts out of. The rocket is held in place by two metal beams very close to the top of roof, the treasure sits atop the southernmost beam. Simply approach the beam and jump down onto it and interact.
