Our feedback: cool.

A lot has been said about haptic feedback with the PS5’s DualSense controller. While all early users have been positive about it so far, it does need the support to make it more than a neat gimmick. When games as big as Fortnite will support haptic feedback on the PS5 from day one, as announced by Epic, that can only be a good sign.

What’s Haptic Feedback?

As laid out by Epic:

“Haptic feedback makes it feel like you’re holding the Suppressed SMG or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. In addition to general vibration support, we’ve integrated haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons on the new DualSense controller.”

So, in regards to haptic trigger feedback, you will feel some resistance on R2 when shooting an Assault Rifle, which sounds pretty neat, though it may be a tad distracting for the sweaties out there.

Can I Turn It Off?

There’s no official word on it from Epic, but based on the fact that Sony themselves have said it’s a general feature you can turn on and off, it will also be the case with Fortnite. It’s likely that pros will turn off haptic feedback immediately, just in the same way they do general vibration.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
