Fortnite Goku Black Skin: Price, Release Date & What You Should Know (UPDATED)

While Fortnite may be collaborating with pretty much every anime going these days, few have quite matched the sheer mainstream appeal and pulling power of the Dragon Ball crossover. The two properties have already worked together a couple of times, but to celebrate a special day in Dragon Ball, it looks as if they’re about to collaborate once again with the arrival of a Goku Black skin.

For those not up to date with Dragon Ball Super, Goku Black can be a little difficult to explain — and even those who are in the know might struggle to explain it clearly. Basically, Goku Black is an alternate timeline version of Goku who was originally called Zamasu and swapped his body with Goku as part of his wish for collecting the Dragon Balls. There’s a lot more layers to it than that, but Goku Black is essentially Evil Goku and can create infinite versions of himself across dimensions, including the Fortnite dimension apparently.

If you’re itching to go pink, we’ve got everything you need to know about Goku Black coming to Fortnite, including how much he will cost you and when he will come out.

Fortnite Goku Black Skin

UPDATE MAY 12th, 2023: As is tradition for a lot of Fortnite anime skins, Goku Black has been leaked early by an Epic partner, this time PlayStation. An ad for the crossover was briefly visible on the PS4’s PlayStation Store for some users.

As expected, it’s pretty close to his anime design, with some cel shading. It would appear that an official reveal is right around the corner.

ORIGINAL STORY: While we don’t yet have an official look at Goku Black, the games’ files and word of mouth have more or less confirmed that he will be coming to the game. The design will most likely be similar to other anime skins in Fortnite, meaning that he will be cel-shaded.

Leaks have suggested that Goku Black will come with two styles (one black hair, one pink) as well as a Staff Pickaxe, Gold Pickaxe, Emote and Wrap.

We will update this when we have an official look at the Goku Black render in Fortnite.

Fortnite Goku Black Skin Price

While most collaboration skins in Fortnite cost 1500 V-Bucks, Epic knew that people would throw money at getting a Goku skin and sold him for 2000 V-Bucks. For this reason, we expect Goku Black to also cost 2000 V-Bucks from the Item Shop, but it might be cheaper than that based on the fact that he will probably have less bundled with him.

Speaking of bundles, Goku Black will also most definitely be available as a bundle featuring all of his cosmetics for roughly 2500 V-Bucks, just based on the prices of the other crossover bundles we’ve seen.

Fortnite Goku Black Skin Release Date

Fans expected Goku Black to make his way into Fortnite on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 at Item Shop reset as May 9th every year is Goku Day. In Japan, the date is written as 5/9, and those numbers themselves can be written as “Go” and “Ku” in kanji. It’s not quite as clean as May 4th for all things Star Wars, but it’s certainly pretty clever.

However, despite the dates lining up, Goku Black never arrived to commemorate the big day. We’re currently in the middle of a Star Wars celebration, so that might be why. A new update (the last of the season) is expected on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, so that’s a good guess for Goku Black to belatedly arrive.

As for how long Goku Black will be available for, a week is a pretty safe bet and he will most likely return often.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
