Fortnite and Twitch are teaming up for The Game Awards once again, and while it’s unfortunately not a free Prime pack, it’s always difficult to say no to a free cosmetic of any kind for the game.
Available as part of a “drop” (items given to viewers of a stream), this special wrap will only be available to those who watch The Game Awards 2020 on either official Twitch channels for the event or via supported streamers. The official channels are /twitchgaming and /thegameawards on Twitch and supported streamers can be found via the Special Events category on Twitch with the Drops Enabled tag also showing.
As for how you can claim the free loot for Fortnite, you have to make sure that your Epic Games and Twitch accounts are linked, which takes all of roughly thirty seconds.
For console players who don’t have easy access to their Epic Games account, it might be wise to log-in before the event to get things set up, or to reset your password. If you don’t have a Twitch account, you will also of course have to make one. Once that’s done, watch at least one minute of the The Game Awards itself and then you will be able to claim the drop. Probably watch at least five minutes to be on the safe side, though.
The free cosmetic should then be available in your Fortnite account by December 15th at the very latest.
And that’s all there is to it to get your free Fortnite wrap. The game is due to have some big reveal at The Game Awards 2020, which many are expecting to either be Master Chief coming to the game as a skin or a Creative overhaul, or maybe even both.
The Game Awards 2020 starts at 2:30pm PST on December 10th, 2020, hosted by Geoff Keighley. It’s supposed to be an awards show, but expect reveals to take center stage instead, as they do every year.
