Following a couple of years of speculation, Weapon Mods are now finally in Fortnite with the launch of Chapter 5 – Season 1, also known as underground. Basically taking the form of attachments, Weapon Mods can change your weapons in unique ways to allow for better recoil and increase magazine size, among other things.
To use Weapon Mods in Fortnite, players must locate a Mod Bench, which can be found within vaults across the map. To acquire Mods, players must spend Gold Bars, which can be found in chests or by destroying certain items across the Fortnite island.
Here are some of the mods currently in the game:
– P2X Optics
– Drum Mag
– Barrel Suppressor
– Holo-13 Optic
– Speed Mag
– Angled Foregrip
– Muzzle Brake
However, you will need to make sure that you have a mod-compatible weapon, and also that your weapon is compatible with a specific mod. Here’s a list of weapons that we know are compatible with mods so far:
– Frenzy Auto Shotgun
– Nemesis Assault Rifle
– Striker Assault Rifle
We will update this list when we know them all for sure.
The rarity of the weapon will also determine how many different mods a weapon can have, though no Common rarity weapon can be modded:
Uncommon
1x mod
Rare
2x mod
Epic
3x mod
Legendary
4x mod
You also won’t be able to moddable weapons from NPCs or Vending Machines; they can only be found out in chests, as floor loot etc.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
